The Power of the Prophets

From Moses to Jesus!!

A biblical prophet was someone who spoke and acted for God . . . a bold vocation indeed.  Much of the story of God and his people was told through the words and the actions of God’s prophets.  For centuries, they called God’s people back to God and God’s ways, often with little apparent success.  In this lecture-oriented class, we’ll look at Israel’s story through the lives, the words, and the actions of some of Israel’s most prominent prophets.  We’ll look at the stories of Moses, Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Malachi . . . and Jesus.  By learning more about the Old Testament prophets, we’ll gain a better appreciation for Jesus’ own prophetic work, which we’ll consider in the last week of class.

This class is being offered in the Winter 2007 St. Andrew Academy session. You'll find here downloadable files of syllabus and the overhead slides from the class in full-page format and as 3-slides per page handouts.; and the downloadable files of the weekly bible reading worksheetsThe worksheets are a guide to weekly Bible readings.
